I find peplum tops to be fun, flirty and perfect for spring. I bought this particular top from Bebe several years ago and love its versatility. Depending on the occasion, this particular peplum top can be dressed up or down. Paired with blue jeans and flats it can be worn out shopping or out to lunch with girlfriends. Paired with white denim and heels it serves as the perfect casual date night outfit.
After my failed capsule wardrobe attempt, I took a break from my blog. I thought being a capsule wardrobe blogger would be my niche and set me apart from every other fashion blogger floating around the web. No longer sure of what message I wanted to send out into cyberspace, I took a month to think about my new blogging direction. To determine what direction I wanted to take my blog I started looking at other blogs I followed. What did I like about them? What did I hate about them? Most importantly I asked myself what kind of blog am I looking to read?
After looking at all types of different fashion / lifestyle blogs I noticed a couple of things.
- The target audience for many of these blogs are women in college or their very early twenties.
- Many of the “fashion” blogs focus more on the latest trendy item to buy. Honestly, I would consider them more shopping blogs than true fashion blogs.
As a thirty year old woman, many of these fashion / lifestyle blogs are no longer applicable to my life. The last thing I need is advice on how to decorate my dorm room or how to dress provocatively for a summer concert. Nor do I need style advice on crop tops.
A blog I would love to read is one by a woman transitioning in to her thirties and to a new more mature phase of her life. I want to know where does this woman shop? How is her style evolving to meet this new phase of her life? What does she like to read? How does she balance a work / home life? Now that’s something I’m interested in!
I have yet to find that blog. So, guess what? I’m going to write it! I may not have all the answers, but hopefully through this blog I can build a community where women can learn, share and evolve together. Here’s to a new more authentic blogging direction and one I’m really excited to embark on.
